Eleanor has always been interested in recording intricate textures and extraordinary sculptural forms found in a variety of landscapes, which have resulted either from natural ageing or violent interventions.
In the last few years she has concentrated on searching for unusually shaped old trees. Living near Richmond Park, there are plenty to study, and during recent Covid times, frequent walks have been enjoyed there finding twisted, hollow tree trunks and ancient storm affected oaks.
Quick onsite drawings of the subject are made, plenty of photos are taken to give more detailed visual information, followed by watercolour drawings and sketches back in the studio to work out which is the most suitable print medium for the resolved image.
